Rettup Industries, Pretoria, South Africa. Last updated 26 October 2026.
This statement explains what personal information Rettup Industries ("Rettup", "we") collects through www.rettup.co.za, license.rettup.co.za and the Rettup POS software, why we collect it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Rettup Industries is the responsible party for the information described below. Our Information Officer is Willem Putter, willem@rettup.co.za, 082 696 6613.
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Licence records (license.rettup.co.za) | Business name, contact person, email address, phone number, licence ID, licence dates and invoices. | To issue and verify your licence, invoice you and keep you informed about your licence. |
| Licence and update checks (automatic, from the POS) | Licence ID, software version, a machine ID that identifies the installation, the date and time of the check, and the internet (IP) address it came from. | To confirm the licence is valid, to offer updates, and to prevent one licence being used on more machines than paid for. |
| Support reports (only when you press "Send to Rettup", or when we ask for diagnostics and you have not switched that off) | The business name, the contact details and message you type, and technical details: software version, error log, counts of users and menu items, backup status and system information. | To fix the problem you reported and to improve the software. |
| Emails and calls to us | Your name, contact details and what you tell us. | To reply and give support. |
| Websites | Our web server records the IP address and pages requested in its normal logs. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when you visit. | To run and secure the websites. |
What we do not collect: Rettup POS keeps your sales, staff and customer records on your own server. They are not sent to us. Support reports contain only counts (for example, how many staff), not names, sales or customer details. We do not collect or see card numbers.
Only Rettup. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. It is stored on our web hosting provider's servers, which act on our behalf. We share information only where the law requires it, or where it is needed to collect an amount owed to us.
The licence service is accessed over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, the admin area needs a password, and licences are digitally signed. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we will tell you and the Information Regulator if a breach affects your personal information.
If you use Rettup POS, you are the responsible party for the information of your own staff and customers that you store in it. Rettup does not have access to it unless you send it to us, for example a backup file for support. You can switch off remote diagnostic requests in the software under Updates and support.
You may ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we no longer need it, and you may object to its processing. Email willem@rettup.co.za and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za, complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
If we change this statement we will update the date above. Rettup POS licence terms are in the licence agreement.
